IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Read all instructions before operating the NSAT.
- This product is intended for use by qualified and experienced adults.
- This manual is for operational guidance only. Please refer to CAN/ULC s536:2019 and/or CAN/ULC s537:2019 Annex C for complete information on this test.
- Dry location use only, for indoor use only.
- Magnetic connectors are very strong and may be a pinch point. Only hold magnets by the base when connecting. Use caution when mounting NSAT.
- Inner components get hot, do not open.
- Do not block fan and vent.
- Do not insert objects into the fan, vents or other openings.
- Do not store anything inside the device.
- Opening and/or repairing your device can present personal injury risks, cause device damage, and other hazards. Volt Verify inc. recommends that you seek professional assistance for device repairs, and that you use caution if undertaking do-it-yourself repairs.
- Factory recalibration is not a requirement but periodic comparison of the NSAT's voltage readings with a calibrated meter under load is recommended. If a discrepancy of more than 5% occurs the unit should be recalibrated. Contact Volt Verify inc. for more details. We acknowledge that it is the policy of some companies to recalibrate testing equipment on a regular schedule. Contact Volt Verify inc. to establish regular factory recalibration.
GETTING STARTED
- Disconnect fire alarm batteries from fire alarm unit, keep batteries together to maintain 24V.
- Securely mount or place NSAT in a safe location that allows test leads to easily reach the batteries. If mounting NSAT to a metallic object, hold magnets by the base when connecting. Use caution when mounting NSAT.
- Ensure both power and test buttons are in the ‘OFF’ position.
- Connect test leads to NSAT in the correct polarity (red +, black -)
- Connect test leads to batteries in the correct polarity. If the connection is incorrect, the reverse polarity light will illuminate.
- Turn NSAT power on. Cooling fan will start and a pretest battery voltage will be displayed on the voltmeter.
- Turn on the test button to begin the New Silent Accelerated Test Method, continue test for 5 minutes.
- Note the endpoint battery voltage.
- Shut test button OFF, leave power ON to allow tester to cool for 2 minutes before shutting off power.
- Disconnect test leads from batteries FIRST and second, remove leads from NSAT.
- Unmount NSAT by sliding magnets to the edge of the metallic surface to which it is mounted.
